The simple answer to this is a weighing scale that monitors vehicles as they enter or leave a site, vehicles can travel upwards of 5mph across the axlebridge allowing the system to capture each individual axle weight and combine them into an overall gross vehicle weight. This important feature ensures that no vehicle enters the public highway with an overloaded axle which carries multiple ramifications for the driver and business operating the vehicle.
Typical accuracies for dynamic weighing systems is around 1-2% which is perfectly adequate to maintain safe working practices.
