Fife Roads Policing Team in Scotland, in collaboration with the DVSA Enforcement conducted road checks. Most HGV’s they stopped and checked were well maintained and the drivers were adhering to the regulations.

However, a 3.5 ton LGV was found to be 16% overweight and one HGV was prohibited for lighting offences.

The vehicles were issued with Fixed Penalty Notices and their operators will be reported to the Traffic Commissioner.

It is essential that all HGVs are well maintained and operated within the law to keep our roads safe for all users. Overloading a vehicle can lead to fines of up to £5,000 and possible vehicle prohibition.

Fife RP urges all HGV operators and drivers to check their vehicles are within the legal limits and fully compliant with current legislation.
