Just recently, the Greater Manchester Police pulled over a vehicle on the M62 for an unprecedented second time in only a few short months! Upon further inspection, the load was determined to be overweight by 47.7% in gross weight and 29.3% on its rear axle, as well as being insecurely loaded. As a result, the driver received hefty fines and a court summons for his numerous offences!

This serves as yet another reminder of how critical it is to properly secure your load when driving on highways and other significant roads. Not only are other motorists at risk when driving alongside an unsecured load, but pedestrians too depending on the type of cargo being transported.

Furthermore, if a driver is caught carrying an overweight or improperly-secured load, they could face serious repercussions – all of which can be avoided by following the correct loading protocols.

In this instance, the driver was quickly sanctioned with an immediate prohibition order and cable notice from law enforcement authorities. Moreover, a Graduated Fixed Penalty Notice (GFPN) of £680, along with court summons, for their myriad infractions connected to load issues were also issued.

This serves as a caution to all drivers who take their vehicles on the roads, hauling sizable amounts of cargo, that they must adhere to legal guidelines in order to dodge exorbitant fines and even harsher penalties.

Business owners and drivers must remain informed of what constitutes an overloaded or insecure vehicle to guarantee their safety while on the road, as well as averting hefty fines like those charged in this case.

When drivers adhere to the appropriate loading procedures, they can be confident that their cargo will stay secure throughout transport, avoiding any potential issues or penalties related to its management.

It’s evident from this latest episode that reckless loading methods are not taken lightly by police departments on major roadways like the M62 – don’t let your business become a victim to these strict regulations!
