Tags – Heaviest Vehicles Ever Made

The heaviest cars in the world are some of the most incredible vehicles on the planet.

They push the limits of what is possible and are a testament to human ingenuity and engineering.

Typically, the definition of a heavy vehicle is that it’s sluggish, wasteful and difficult to manoeuvre; if stuck in a puddle, you’re out of luck – you can’t get out of a puddle if your car is too heavy.

Today, automakers have been attempting and competing to eliminate any additional pounds from their automobiles in order to improve its performance, practicality and appeal.

The reason being, the weight of a vehicle has an impact on fuel efficiency, handling, power, and a variety of performance variables.

However, certain carmakers have prioritised being practical or efficient at the expense of some of the world’s most massive, inefficient but not necessarily impractical cars.

In this blog, we take a look at 8 of the heaviest cars in the world; these cars are amazing and will leave you wondering how they can even move!

1. Rolls Royce Phantom: 2745kg

We couldn’t start the list without mentioning Rolls Royce – well all know the kind of cars they make.

And there are no concerns about mileage, manoeuvring or getting stuck in a puddle because, in fact, they probably are not intended to be driven by the owner; you would most definitely have a chauffeur to drive you around.

And it’s for these reasons why most people don’t mind the fact that it’s one of the most uneconomical cars out there.

Simply, the opulent Rolls Royce Phantom weighs over 2 tonnes and stretches 239 inches in length.

2. Bentley Continental Flying Spur: 2450kg

Higher than high-end, this luxury saloon is the type of car you’d pullover with at a lavish party attended by the richest of the rich!

Like the Rolls Royce Phantom, the Flying Spur also rests in its weight; weighing 2.4 tonnes.

Out of this weight, almost a fourth of the fitments fall down to the shiny metal bits and bobs incorporated to give that feeling of luxury. The cabin is filled with metal. All of the buttons are made of metal, as is the gear handle and cup holders. It also features an antique clock made out of gold.

3. Volkswagen Touareg W12: 2524kg

Today, SUVs are not as big as they used to be, and you can now choose between an SUV, a compact SUV, a crossover and a mid-size.

Around the 2000s, people had just left the station wagon for a more practical alternative: an SUV.

However, the initial SUVs were rather large, and the Volkswagen Touareg from 2005 was one of them; it was a perfect example of extravagance gone amok.

4. Audi Q7 V12: 2600kg

When the Audi Q7 was first released, it was one of the best 0-60 SUVs out there. Nor did it feel as heavy as it actually was.

In fact, the Q7 has quickly become Audi’s flagship SUV, becoming the favourite choice for every family thanks to its sophisticated interiors and athletic frame.

5. Audi E-Tron SUV: 2695kg

Whatever weight a traditional vehicle may have, its electric version will always weigh more.

And the Audi SUV’s combustion engine variant tips the scales at about 2700 kilos, which is considerably less than comparable electric cars.

I’m not sure what happened, but it appears that Audi did a fantastic job with this one. Nonetheless, it’s still heavier than most normal SUVs.

6. Tesla Cybertruck: 3000kg

We couldn’t mention electric vehicles without mentioning Tesla – especially when you look at the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck’s exoskeleton is designed for maximum passenger protection and incorporates a unique design that endows it with exceptional strength.

And the exterior shell is supposed to be indestructible, withstanding anything but the metal balls shot at it at the launch.

7. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S: 3075kg

The Porsche Cayenne is one of the most luxury SUVs on the market; it’s comfortable, efficient and stylish all at once.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S tips the scales at over three tonnes, which is quite a lot for an SUV. The vehicle was designed to be a high-performance SUV, and it definitely lives up to its billing.

8. Cadillac Escalade: 3086kg

An iconic SUV, the  Cadillac Escalade has been around for over two decades and it’s still one of the most popular SUVs out there.

Essentially, the Escalade is a big, heavy SUV, and it tips the scales at over three tonnes, and it’s powered by a Vortec 6000 V12 engine, which gives it plenty of power to get up and go.

Rounding Up

Automakers are feeling an unprecedented amount of strain as ever more stringent emissions rules approach.

There’s a problem, though: they must accomplish this tough goal without removing material, compromising performance, or cutting corners when it comes to safety.

The UK’s lightest models, on the other hand, continue to be small, economy-oriented hatchbacks with little in the way of creature comforts. And, the heaviest cars on the market remain well-built SUVs with large-displacement engines.
