The DVSA Enforcement stopped a van at Todhills as it was suspected to be overweight.

On weighing, the van which is permitted to carry only 3500kg weighed 6010 kg. The van was 71% overloaded.

Rear axle of the van was 76% overloaded.  

The train weight and total weight added to 8530kg, which is 55% overweight. They should have been using a HGV instead. 

The vehicle had no tachograph fitted either. Not fitting a tachograph is an offence that can result in a fine of up to £5000.

The driver of the van was issued with a Prohibition Notice and the van was taken off the road. 

If you are stopped and found to be carrying an overweight load, the DVSA may issue a prohibition notice which will prevent the vehicle from being used until the excess weight is removed. You may also be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £300 and given 3 points on your licence.
