During a three-month police operation, nearly 50 overweight trucks were observed using limited lanes.

Following complaints about the large number of lorries on Radlett Road/Hartspring Lane in Aldenham, officers from the Bushey and Radlett safer neighbourhood have carried out 12 operations.

Vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes are prohibited on Radlett Road, but some drivers continue to flout the rules.

According to the police, 15 percent of drivers were given verbal warnings and half of them were reported.

Only 10% of drivers stopped for police, and a quarter of them were using the roads for delivery or collection, which is legal, resulting in no action taken.
