On the 5th of July, a major operation was launched to disrupt and inconvenience criminals, such as organised crime organisations, who commit crimes across county lines while travelling along the road network.

Vehicles believed to be linked to criminality were taken back to a check site in Hadleigh Road, where police and partner agencies carried out inspections of the vehicles and occupants.

The action was taken by cops from several police teams and authorities who were deployed to various locations around the city in order to look for speeding infractions.

Over a hundred vehicles were escorted back to the site, with only eight of them failing to avoid any infractions.

There were 89 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) issued, including 11 for an insecure cargo, nine for oversize vehicles, four for no insurance.

The streets are safer because of it. The Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk, Tim Passmore, praised the multi-agency approach in keeping Suffolk’s roads safe as well as the critical role played by the Road Policing Team in doing so.
